The roots of MK Electric date back to 1912, when Charles Arnold and Charles Belling formed their first business venture, Belling and Company. In 1919, Arnold and Belling began to develop electrical equipment which they realised would require high rated switches and sockets in order to function efficiently. Their first great design was the Multy Kontact spring grip socket, which sparked a revolution in the electrical industry and inspired a change of name for the company.
Later innovations included the first shuttered switch, the Alternating Current ceiling switch and the wall mounted light switch. MK developed a reputation for leading and responding to change in the electrical industry, and were often the first company to launch products that conformed to new British Standards.
